Show Racism the Red Card Volunteer Policy

Show Racism the Red Card recognizes the important role of volunteer work in building the capacity of the project at all levels of activity. Building a volunteer capacity requires a strategy to support recruitment to meet this need.

Show Racism the Red Card will benefit in the following areas through the development of a volunteer policy. Volunteers will enhance the credibility and reach of Show Racism the Red Card. A volunteer capacity will reflect our ethos of community development.

Volunteers can participate in the following areas of work:

  • Management Committee executive; Secretary, Chair, Treasurer, PRO, Liaison officers and sub-groups of management committee
  • Assistance at events; attend conferences to represent the project, provide assistance in preparing rooms for events
  • Development of resources; website, material resources, human resources, fundraising, translation
  • The Management Committee is the governing body of Show Racism the Red Card and it monitors and accounts for the activities of the project to ensure they are consistent with the strategy of Show Racism the Red Card.

Show Racism the Red Card in Ireland exists to harness the profile of Irish sporting personalities for anti-racism education and to promote intercultural activity that contributes towards the integration of immigrants.

Show Racism the Red Card will develop working relationships with a range of sporting governing and representative bodies to develop work to support our strategic plan. Show Racism the Red Card will also work with organisations in the community working with immigrants, young people and in areas which are related to the work of Show Racism the Red Card.

To support the development of our material and human resources, Show Racism the Red Card recognizes that the volunteer policy will outline volunteer opportunities. Show Racism the Red Card will work with other agencies such as Volunteering Ireland for recruitment and will develop a recruitment policy of volunteers reflective of the human resources policy of Show Racism the Red Card.

To support the capacity of volunteers to carry out the activity of the project, Show Racism the Red Card is committed to giving support from the co-ordinator, management committee and relevant external training which assists the development of voluntary capacity.
